“I hadn’t written too many songs in quite a while. Estar suggested a new idea for how to start a composition that I’d never dreamt of. I ended up creating something quite unlike anything I’d heard emerge from myself before. When I showed her the first draft, she took me through new ways of hearing and playing it which immediately pulled away the first assumptions I’d been making about how the song “should” sound. I kept working on it. I’m still working on it. And now I’m writing many other songs! Estar listens well, pushes you outward, and truly encourages”
